Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Ideas for those who are ready to leave

Now that backpay is paid out I wanna ask those with the knowledge, how can one invest or buy into a machine or even by borrowing a little more money combining it with the backpay and buying into a franchise so some people who made up their minds to leave can use the ideas to show the railroad they should've treated their employees better during the early covid or psr days .please leave ideas on franchises or small start up businesses one can use current backpay to startup and eventually leave the railroad

I love it when union pacific human resources gets on here and starts bad mouthing posts on here .I hope no one applies for the railroad anymore. I know maybe that will be the one man crew answer or autonomous train answer but I've worked here for over 20 years and I know that Omaha can't run anything right and will make an embarrassment of itself even more in the future

Where I live one of those soda blasters on a trailer to gently remove paint from cars, iron fences, faded equipment, etc would make it if the entrepreneur went and looked for the customer to do business with. Might have to do a couple of really cheap demonstrations to get people to realize how much work this service would save them. I’ve watched too many guys try to start a small business and think printing our business cards, telling their friends, and a new social media account will start their phone ringing. My small business I started slow and small as a side gig. Today I have a waiting list over a year long and I turn away more projects than I accept. Oh and I was motivated to start something on the side bcuz a UP manager told me an imbecile rule breaking lying mo--n id--t whose only skill was brown nosing was someone I needed to learn from.

Find out what you like to do .Start out working small jobs part time . Most franchises to buy into have problems, they are selling something to you. Uber drivers.

I've seen a guy who worked out here as a conductor way before today's backpay start a lawn care business buying equipment he eventually bought a portable high pressure power washer on trailer and included driveway washing and tree trimming besides lawn care. He left the railroad a couple of years ago and I'm proud to say he is still in business. He got tired of the on-call lifestyle

How in the world would buying “a machine” or investing in a small business show the railroad anything? The original posting is nonsensical.
