I have only myself to blame for believing that my role will not be affected. The manager informed us that we should not worry. After that we received a notice.
So many years of loyalty to this company... and now of course I feel cheated. Anyone else told they were safe and then laid off?

What a nasty reply that person left. People that type like that have several screws loose. Pay them no mind, they aren't worth it and don't deserve it. I'm sorry you were hit by this and hope you can find a better way forward.
"Ethics??" You do REALIZE the detrimental damage that movies, TV shows, gaming, music, pundits have had on people, families, and communities??
