There are companies who still value and respect their employees. CSG and the current CEO DO NOT give a rip about you as evidenced by their treatment of your coworkers this week. Maybe you’re next? Right now we are all sitting ducks for whatever the fk they want to do with us. Time to start talking to a union and get some representation to PUSH BACK on ELT bullies and fat cats! So TK, watcha gonna do when a big ol union tells you to fk off? Cry in your Krispy Kremes?

If you’re calling for a Union you have either never worked in a union shop or you really don’t care about improving your situation. Do you realize in a Union you don’t get to negotiate your Salary, Bonus, Or Stock? If you are the brightest or hardest worker you get paid the same as the laziest on the team and if the laziest person has been in the job longer than everyone else, they get the next promotion not the person putting in extra effort trying to improve the company or their situation. And guess what, if the company goes under because the workers have Zero incentive to improve themselves, guess what the company goes under and everyone loses their Job anyway. When I worked for a union shop and during CWA negotiations they pushed us to strike, I asked our Union rep (not steward) if union management goes on strike pay too? Nope they get their regular paycheck while you get nothing for a week or two, can’t claim unemployment, and then get strike pay which is next to nothing. I’m glad I had that experience early in my career, because I realized I am my best advocate and a job is not a right. The Union had its time and place and that’s gone it’s just a grift now.
I know the person who’s pushing Unions has never worked for one or they’d be screaming Scab at all these people who are trying to explain why a union in tech is just plain D-mb..
Oh and I am worth more than a guy that’s doing less than the minimum in the same role….
"The reality is that Citrix pays market rate or above for just about every job in the company, and no one is breaking their back or getting lung cancer working there."
I beg to differ. I get sick to my stomach with chronic diarrhea listening to leadership puppet talking heads like you. Enjoy being a lapdog. One thing you fail to undersatnd - employees WILL NOT take repeated mistreatment sitting down. What you fail to recognize, is that respect is a two way street. That's enough free advice for now.
“Yawn. Get back to us when the union is formed. LOL”
We will….if you haven’t been unceremoniously canned like thousands of people this week………………
“ Now your are talking about money, a real issue for them.”
BINGO. You got the nail on the head. leadership and their hatchet men (HR, Legal) will continue to take away benefits, compensation and demoralize you until and unless a union comes in to the picture to tell leadership to EFF OFF. Right now, NO ONE is looking for our interests. And watch out for HR. They’ll smile in your face while twisting the kn--e in your back!

Every time a Union is brought one person a corporate get very active on this site. Moving money to employees away from corporate (Private Equity) is a frightening thing for these people. They don't care about your personal opinion of them, they do care if someone starts a Union or law suite.
Now your are talking about money, a real issue for them.
Yawn. Get back to us when the union is formed. LOL
Yea, a Union for Apple Store workers or Amazon factory is no where near a Union for highly paid tech workers forming. A good answer to this mess is to work for small companies that are run by folks who value people. That, or find another country to live and work in - what a sh---y mess the US has become. Let’s also make sure the Uber wealthy pay no taxes while we are at it, oh yea, that is already the case. My bad.
Oh, it can happen. Yes, it can:

“Why does anyone have to be so rude?”
Easy. Because TK and his thugs are happy pushing around and humiliating employees and the idea that they couldn’t do that any more if a union represented employees has leadership CRA***NG their pants and lashing out at regular employees on here.
A union CAN happen and will be an increasingly important option as TK continues his ruthless treatment of employees.
Also, Unions in places like Florida (Citrix' headquarters) have very limited power. Florida is a Right to Work state, which means employees have a "right to work" at a company no matter if they choose to join the union or not. Because of this, the union would have very little power in such states.
Unions of today are NOT the same as unions of the past, for the most part. Today's unions are often businesses, in and of themselves, which profit off of the plight and frustration of the employees. Often they cause more harm than good, while gathering huge profits, themselves. I was part of a union vote with a previous employer and we REJECTED the well-known union organizing it, once the truth behind the union became clear. We would have been worse-off with them, than without them.
What union would you be talking too? And, in what country? There aren't any tech companies that are unionized in the US, unless you're talking the older telcos, and their unions are for trades employees (electricians and skilled labor like that).
“OK, Norma Rae. You let us know where that goes.. “
Nope. Not telling you anything about my conversations with the Union. You’re either redundant (enjoy that severance package!) or you’re a leadership thug with your head so far up TK’s orifice you can smell the donuts. In either case, it ain’t none of your business. Got it?
Just found this thread. Interesting idea to discuss unionization at CSG. To the naysayers, it CAN happen and if leadership keeps pushing around employees, it’s a definite option. People, keep in mind that leadership is reading theses posts and it is NOT in their interests (I.e. TK’s massive bonuses ) for workers to go union. Keep that in mind when you read the posts on this thread.
If Citrix was a mining company or fast food franchise that had dangerous working conditions or low pay for manual labor, then some of this deranged outrage might be acceptable.
The reality is that Citrix pays market rate or above for just about every job in the company, and no one is breaking their back or getting lung cancer working there.
Grow up guys, it's a tech company. They startup and shut down very regularly. What Citrix has gone through in the last 16 months or so is pretty normal stuff if you've been in the tech vendor space for a while. Rapid expansion and then massive cuts is a very familiar pattern in tech.
Why does anyone have to be so rude? Whether you agree with unionisation or not, what is there to gain calling each other losers or worthless? Regardless of whether you’re staying or being laid off, the issue here is CSG & TK, makes no sense attacking each other. How about supporting each other rather than attacking?
"In the meantime, I’m discussing with union representatives next week."
OK, Norma Rae. You let us know where that goes.. Here's a hint: NOWHERE. There is zero chance of a union happening. Z-E-R-O. Loser. Try getting another job, although my guess is that you're worthless but still want to be paid as if a company actually needed your services.
No, not TK lackeys. Not everyone believes in unions. I know it's unthinkable that someone might not agree with you, but there it is.
Of course tech workers should unionize. I see a lot of lackeys of TK are responding here trying to discourage any talk of unionization and trying to convince the victims of this predatory capitalist that their getting laid off is their fault.
“ I got my nice severance package on the OP making zero effort to start a union.”
Keep your severance money. You’re going to need the funds. In the meantime, I’m discussing with union representatives next week. I’d invite you to join me but…oh, you don’t work here anymore!
I understand that you're trapped here because you don't have the skills to get another job, but dreaming of a union is just that - a dream.
Actually it’s an interesting idea….I’ve heard a number of people mention the same. Here’s an article I read a month or so ago about tech workers unionizing: https://prospect.org/labor/tech-company-workers-should-unionize-immediately/
I see we’re moving into the delusional stage of grief now. lol
I got my nice severance package on the OP making zero effort to start a union.
Tech Workers Unite!!! uh, wait, no, that's never going to happen. too many reasons to list here. read a book about how actual labor unions get started.
Good luck with that. Odds of that happening: zero.
Another person who can't or won't find another job with a good company. My guess is "can't."
