Severance package - Main thread

To avoid having to go through all the threads, can you please provide information on what the severance package includes?
From what I've read, in the US it typically includes

  • 6 weeks of base salary,
  • 2 weeks of pay per year of service,
  • and all vested Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).

Is this correct?

Additionally, is there anyone who can provide information on what a typical severance package in Europe includes?

Continuing on from below:
Oh, and depending on amount expected; will be paid in 2-3 instalments - first instalment (main lump sum) paid in the following payroll after leave date. This was challenged in the consultation, but basically the company is struggling with cash flow issues.

I’m in the UK and was recently layed off. Severance will vary based on years of service:
• 3 weeks of basic pay for every full year of service. The first 30k is tax-free
• Notice (paid in lieu) - something like, a weeks pay for every year of service
• VCIP paid up
• Unvested RSU, fully cashed paid out
Told that this was an enhanced severance package but that it could change in the future

Why would you want it spread over X weeks instead of all at once? You're just loaning the company money at that point. Taxes are all the same.

Anyone know if severance is paid in a lump sum or over the x number of weeks you receive? The language in their documents says it can be done either way.

How about the cash deferred awards?

The UK is 4 weeks base, +1 month pay per year of service, no RSUs though.

"I was let go 24 hours ago. I still haven’t received the emails with information on where to return equipment or separation details. Anyone else in the same situation?"

I posted this. I emailed AskHR@Citrix.com and got the paperwork within the hour.

I still haven’t received any info. This is ridiculous how poor they are handling this.

In the US, months of Healthcare (medical/dental/vision) equal to total weeks of pay divided by 4 rounded up

It is completed years of service, so if you are a month shy of 20 years, you get 19. Also, they only pay half of the $ of the PTO you still have on the books.

FYI, I expect that each new round of layoffs will have reduced severance compensation. Why? The ongoing customer departures will further impact CSG's declining profitability.

There won't be a 'typical' European package as it varies from country to country.

The UK package is similar to the above but 4 weeks of base, and 1 mo of pay per year of service.
