Massive Layoffs 1/11/2023

Over 250 managers including CEO were on a call today with HR and taught how to lay off people on Wednesday 1/11/23. If you get an invite. Get your stuff off your laptop you may need before because as soon as they hang up with you- you’re gone and removed access to everything. This is unprecedented treatment and is worldwide. But starts in US.

I was let go today. I was told position was eliminated. I was In Data Science (not Tampa) for more than a decade. I have no idea how widespread it is. I was cut off from everything within an hour.

Timing will vary globally. Every impacted employee can expect:

Severance pay in accordance with local legislation and country guidelines.

Outplacement services (as noted locally) with an external partner to help secure new job opportunities. This benefit will be in place until the impacted employee finds a new job.

Health insurance (where relevant) in accordance with country guidelines.

Annual Incentive Plan eligible employees will receive their full 2022 bonus.

Some managers 100% had no say, they were told who was being fired based on poor / lower yearly reviews and could not fight for people. It was already decided. other metrics played into it too, I’m sure high salaries etc.

For those asking.... I had my meeting scheduled by my boss yesterday mid-day for today. As is seemed a very odd time for a 1:1, I questioned it. Was told blah blah, needed to rearrange this week.....etc.

I worked for Audio Contact Center as a Team Leader since 2018. Been there 19.25 years overall, survived many RIF's, reorgs, etc. I was a consistent top performer, just was more expensive was my guess due to max vacation time. The boss who gave the input probably marked me... I was never one of his favorites.

Was told there was a criterion for the selection process - I didn't ask bc it would most likely be bs.

OP, this isn't unprecedented For Nielsen. Nielsen Cut back on the Cut backs during Pandemic firing People For More Profit Has Been part of its DNA since the Calhoun days. Five Percent Cuts was SOP Minimum annual Target For Many Years.
