It’s happening tomorrow 1/11. Say your goodbyes to colleagues, pack up your stuff because it’s closing time for you at this shithole company.
Don’t worry, you will never have to deal with these overlords again.
God Bless

Anyone know how they pick who gets laid off? What is it based off?
Hey if you copy and paste the axios link into https://12ft.io/ it will remove the paywall and let you read the article
https://12ft.io/proxy?q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.axios.com%2Fpro%2Fmedia-deals%2F2023%2F01%2F11%2Fnielsen-layoffs
Can someone paste the Axios article text for those without a subscription?

Managers were told end of last week. At least some were, but yes the information was leaking last Friday. Big HR meetings this past Monday.
Out of curiosity, how did OP learn that layoffs are happening a day in advance?
has it started yet
some unasked for advice:
be careful what you say in nielsen slack or nielsen email or other chat programs, until your access is cut off, and be careful slagging off the company on social media.
don’t risk your severance. DON’T RISK IT. You are worth at least that pittance. You earned it.
severance varies on many factors. how long you’re at nielsen. if you were eligible for a bonus from 2022 (and depts treat bonuses differently too with different timelines so that varies, i have no details)
by all means if some illegal bs happens in your dismissal, follow up with a labor attorney consult. but otherwise protect yourselves by not “causing a scene” (eyeroll) online.
at the very least get your final money & benefits & don’t let them find a reason to keep it from you.
i’ve been thru several lay offs elsewhere and even at nielsen a few yrs ago. take the week to be shocked then take restock and be careful online.
you can file for unemployment when your weeks of severance are over, your first week of unemployment is also not paid btw (total cr-p imo) so save those dollars for that unpaid week. And get taxes taken out of UI if you can afford it or you’ll get a cr-p tax bill, which is also bs imo.
And remember above all: no job is the sum total of who you are. your worth is NOT tied to this job, or any job. The general workforce is disrespected, globally and esp in the US, with at will firings, expensive healthcare “benefits” if the job even offers any, no guaranteed PTO, etc. This is a reflection of a sh-t system, not you as an individual. it’s a kick in the face and will sting and can be financially devastating but this still doesn’t mean YOU are bad. Jobs come & go, you will make it through.
Sorry folks. I don’t even know if I am safe, either.
It sucks this didn’t trigger the WARN act. Remote employees in particular are a loophole to the 60-90 day warning (state depending), many of us are not tied to a physical location
if i understand the WARN act clearly & likely only for US employees
maternity leave is not an automatic protection as long as they don’t fire you because of that leave
if you have an HR email tomorrow you are gone
if not you are safe for now
some managers had no say in who goes. they were told who to cut based on reviews, salary levels, stuff like that.
Are you safe if you're in maternity leave?
it is happening
tomorrow morning HR emails go out
no one knows the full number
all depts hit
noone safe
Any insight how the actual layoff works? Would I get a meeting invite 2 mins before with my manager or something? Never been a part of a lay off before
Layoff same day as Nielsen 1 launch...pretty ripe time for retaliation. Demon Dave must think the Nielsen 1 news Will distract from layoff news.
Can confirm. Heard the same thing. 20% cost cutting, mainly from headcount. Impacting all departments. Confirmed departments are technology, operations, product.
Can anyone else confirm this is true?
What about the call centers? Oldsmar? San Antonio? Dallas? Are they closing? Does GFK have it's own call centers?
Any idea which departments will be impacted?
