Thread regarding Salesforce.com Inc. layoffs

Saving the company

If the aspiration of our leadership was to save the company, was there any other way to do it instead of laying good people off?

Just read an interesting perspective on LinkedIn. Sadly can’t remember the person who posted it, but… theory is that the layoffs occurring aren’t really cost cutting measures but control mea, particularly since the layoffs are seemingly random. You don’t know why people were cut, you don’t know if you might be next, etc.

But you don’t want to be next so all of the sudden instead of quiet quitting survivors will work longer hours, be willing to come back to the office, go without the yummy gummy bears & delish chocolate covered pretzels, etc.

Gotta say… the author made a solid argument (better than I relate here). So maybe they’re not trying to save the company … they just want put employees back in their place.

What can I say? It's easier to layoff and it pleases Wall St.

Salesforce stock crashed down to 2018 levels, and acquires Tableau, Slack and mulesoft with hard cash. How are they going to generate more profits? Reducing payroll expenses is only sensible way. Of course, good people get laid off in these ventures.
