Thread regarding Capgemini layoffs

My inner peace and quality of life with my beloved ones is priceless!

Like others have posted, I was one of the "lucky" laid off early in October from Invent. I say "lucky", because looking back now in retrospect, I consider myself "lucky" of having had an early start on my job search when considering the ten of thousands let go between November & December by companies like Twitter, Microsoft, and others.

I was able to land a job in a stable industry (well, "stable" when compared to most others during the Covid and 2022 turmoils) in a well-funded non client-facing role with a clear roadmap for the next 2-3 years. I know the concept of "job security" doesn't exist anywhere by today's market standards, but at least I don't have now that constant paranoiac feel I had whenever I was coming close to end an assignment and being on the bench.

I got fed up the harsh reality of "looking for a job" within my job to justify my existence within the company for a few extra more months each time. Too stressful.... I got a pay cut when moving back to industry on this new gig-but you know what? I can't be happier! My new job work arrangement is 100% remote with less than 10% travel and I close my laptop at 5:00PM without the fear of unrealistic expectations waiting for me first thing in the morning. No more PowerPoint proposals, never-ending client orals' prep calls, ramping up travel requirements, etc., etc. (for not saying all the political bu115h1t you and I know very well)

I don't regret my years in Consulting (they look great on my resume and trigger interviews-that's an undeniable reality), but I would think not twice, but multiple times, even the remote idea of getting back-regardless of the Consulting Firm. Money lured me into consulting, but I learned well my lesson. My inner peace and quality of life with my beloved ones is priceless! Bye Bye Consulting. You think you "used" me, but it was the other way around!
