I do not agree that the only ones left here are those without talent and the possibility to find another job. How do you explain that there are so many people here who don't care at all whether they will be laid off or not? I notice that most of them are just waiting for the package, and that they already have a plan in case they lose this job.

Lets be real. Some of us have been looking. The jobs I find pay a little less due to the longevity I've build up at Citrix. And there's a sizable chunk of stock that vests in a few months. Whatever happens will happen. But this certainly has gone from the best company I've ever worked for to one of the absolute worst.
Addendum: there are also payroll taxes! 7.65%. So, in the U.S., assume at least 30% of your severance check will be lost to taxes.
Has anyone actually calculated just how much net pay they will net from a package? In the U.S., CSG is legally required to withhold 22% in Federal taxes, and there may be state taxes on top of that. You could lose 25% or more right off the top. And then if you don't find another job right away, you are on the hook for your own health insurance. There is unemployment, but that's capped and is nowhere near your regular salary.
I'm not saying don't hang on for six months, only that if you got a better-paying job right now, the difference after six months might not be as slanted in the package's favor as you may think. Crunch some numbers and figure out what is best for you.
"How do you explain that there are so many people here?"
It's true, sheep and cattle feel safer in herds. Look at the vast majority of posts on this site from the Citrix leftovers. I think you have your answer.
Merely waiting to be terminated, with no other apparent options. But wait, you'll be given another 6-months reprieve where you can bow down to Kause and his minions. No thank you. I'm done.
In that case you stay but start a job search. It's really that simple, especially in the US. Maybe you find something better, maybe you don't, but be proactive.
I'm on the fence, part of me wants to be laid off and get the package, and the other part is worried that I won't be able to find another job with so many companies feeling the pinch of the Covid economy. I know that many people who work at Citrix are good people that are smart and competent. Not everyone that works at Citrix has a degree and can find work that pays them what Citrix pays. Many have been here a long time and like the family groups they have developed. It's not a great reason to stay but maybe it's better than trying to find a job where there are 200 applicants and your chances of even getting someone to read your resume is 1 in a million.
