Hello. I have a question regarding the recent layoffs. Did Verizon end up laying off VZ employees, specifically linesman (in new England) that were hired after 2003 and are not protected by the "no layoff" clause in the contract?
Thanks so much.

@am hi. Did they layoff after 2003 hire techs?
They can layoff Union techs hired post August 2003 but unlikely due to most techs have close to 30 years service or more. In fact no facility techs were on surplus list in NJ this year.
@a7 yikes, embarrassing response
company has to follow protocol but bottom line is yes.
They’re much more likely to offer packages. In my department almost everyone is 3-5 years from retirement. The contract says layoffs must be in inverse order of seniority so if they do layoffs theyre going to have to layoff the people furthest from retirement which would be a big mistake a few years from now.
They can layoff techs that don’t have the “ no layoff clause” in their contract. Union sold out new hires back in early 2000’s. So technically they can, probably won’t even though a lot of guys just sitting on their as--s all day.
they cannot lay us off,but they can give a decent package and techs will leave.i know a dept of guys that havent had much work in about 4 or 5 years.
Layoff …. NO .Confirmed me .
Dude!.. this type of question is why they think that us in the Union are d-mb...do you even know what a union is?
