Thread regarding Paramount Global layoffs

2000 Layoffs...Here's what would be wonderful if they would just be consistent and shared ...

1,000 Layoffs on 10/29
600 Buyouts
1,600 Personnel no longer on the books once Telefe and Chile TV network sold
Talk of 2,000 total Layoffs

Here's what would be great to know...just so all are aligned and working off the same page. We know that the 1,000 10/29 layoffs are part of the 2,000 layoff target. Are the 600 + 1,600 figures above considered part of the total 2,000 or are they completely separate? That's all we're asking DE + Exec Team to share. Are there 1,000 more to go in December of Q1 2026 or is the figure more or less???

600 is. Number but not reality. I can rehire every role that opted in.

Paramount blacklisting actors too.. anyone criticising Israel for Palestine sla-ghter is doomed. That's what you get for Ellison being buddies with netanyahu - where's dum dum saying Ellison - trump is a good thing ??? Ellison obviously tighter with netanyahu

@a5 Yep, and then once that's all done, the WBD merger will be approved (because of course it will) and it'll start all over again. It's dark days ahead for the industry, this will be Zaslav takeover of WB on steroids. If anything DE and his associates have only proved how ill advised and untrustworthy they are. Nothing is set in stone and don't expect any clear communication ever, at least that's the vibe I get.

@ah Those 1600 employees will become employees of the new entities that respectively purchase the Chilean and Argentianian companies. What SkyPar has said is that they will no longer be part of the company's overall headcount.

the earning report did not state 1000 more US - just the 1000 already the 600 and the south american 1600

so your question is valid - it's variety and deadline that are going with 1000 more US and communication would be great

we know tech people have stated streaming jobs due to convergence next year but i have seen this 12 2 date floated- which why on earth wouldn't they have done those with the october ones ..

An educated guess would be that they do NOT count those 2200 in their planned layoffs; keep in mind that they just claimed that they would actually "save" $3B per year instead of the $2B they had promised investors. The 600 buyouts are an easy way for them to take savings that aren't technically layoffs, ditto the entire staff(s) of any sold (or about to be sold) entities.

Anyone who believed Ellison and Shell when they said this would be a clean, one-and-done cut and not a prolonged process is living in SpongeBob "IMAGINATION" land (the same fantasy space where Bari Weiss is a paragon of nonpartisan newsgathering with universal respect).

Another round this year is highly likely, as the new SkyDance chiefs take over all these new underlings, and then another mass wave should be expected in the new year when they start deciding to replace any 'legacy' Paramounter with some tech bro tool -- if not an actual technology tool!
