Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

If I get RIF'ed, will the companies I'm interviewing at find out?

Will my experience certificate mention this anywhere? Will the other companies find out I got RIF'ed via background checks? Or will I be asked to drop my papers, and it'll look like I resigned?

The only information potential employers will get from VZ is that you were employed there and the dates of your employment. That's it. And it's handled by an outside vendor.

From past experience, no shame in Rif. I went through it during the financial crisis. If you can explain company wide reorganized, there are more sympathy then a dude quitting or got fired for some stupid reason like not rto or expense report abuse.

There is no shame in RIF. America understands it’s part of the game.

A rif is a “voluntary” severance package. Signing it means you agree and you get paid a lump sum to leave. You can refuse of course and walk away empty handed though…
