Other than the usual suspects (nepotism hires and brown nosers) nobody should consider themselves safe. Amazon is in trouble and the leadership is looking at desperate measures to reverse the downward trend. This includes getting rid of as many people as possible, preferably those with higher salaries. Since they tend to skew older, they'll get rid of a bunch of younger employees who earn less to even the scale. As I said, nobody is safe.
