Per internal docs it appears that the entire mid market channel (from VP down) will be eliminated due to poor business practices. SMB directors and their teams will be assuming mid market roles and territories. Retail store GMs will be dissolved and stores with low door swings will be closed. This is expected to be announced 11/17-11/21.

For all the naysayers, sure seems like this is coming true. Retail changes were spot on. Severing R2B from stores to operate like Mid Market reps, 30 day PIP process, nothing but NL calls 5 days a week, all ADs and Directors in panic mode trying to prove their worth. Mid Markets are a few RIFs away from being replaced.
@bg this didn’t age well 😂😂
No way mid-markets is gone. The business channel brought in 51K postpaid phone net adds in 3Q and consumer brought in -7K. Mid-markets (business sales for customers with 10+ employees - non-Enterprise) did most of that 51K.
@a1 if you don’t know you can’t afford it
Fake News!!!
@a2 I would have to agree with you here... Retail is one of the safest places at the moment. Anytime a company starts to cut it's front line sales people, it's historically because the company is in deep deep trouble.
@a3 the cost of breaking a lease would be considered fractions of pennies in the grand scheme of things where our business is concerned. We also have plenty of Indirect agents who would gladly fill our vacated locations in a heartbeat.
@a1 The OP is stating that mid markets (The entire B2B mid markets teams) will be axed and those "mid markets" B2B accounts will then roll up under the SMB teams, who you should be more than familiar with, if you work in the retail environment.
Trolls
Separation packages are going to be offered to GMs. Currently seen as being overpaid. I anticipate asst gms will be awarded a slight bump and have multiple stores to oversee. Areas with multiple stores will have personnel combined/let go. The cost of breaking a lease is far less than paying till maturity. Not to mention the decrease in overall retail associates salary and commissions.
@a6 , don’t give up your day job. Wasn’t even mildly funny three years ago. Just stupid
I don’t believe at all Store Manager job gone, that’s not possible . More believable post is responsibility increases. We tried multi store managers in 2021 and it was a big fail, and that was being without half a Manager. No general managers ? No way !! Every retail chain has managers. Fake news and anxiety where there is none . Retail has given low performing store locations to Indirect for years , no secret there .
What does this mean for my 11am tennis matches on Tuesday and Thursday?
@a3 the coat of breaking a lease is negligible compared to the cost of employing a Retail Store, utilities, insurance and other fees. Not saying this is true, but it’s also not a drastic cost when weighing operations cost during the same period. Indirect has been a growing revenue source, the top sales channel, and has far more locations per customer. We wouldn’t close all stores, but we also can’t assume multiple Retail Stores in an area are necessary. Between Big Box, Pro on the Go, and Indirect, distribution is totally there.
Also, I have 0 knowledge of any expected RIFs, just a knowledge of ongoing strategic planning and ideas that have been generated in the past, and have been executed regularly.
@OP source: trust me bro.
Also, do you realize how much money that'll cost them to terminate current leases with their stores? They'd lose so much money in shareholder value and the trust with their customers. Come on now. Stop with the fear mongering.
Nothing is going to happen to retail until the beginning of next year. Holiday season is peak selling time. Fake news
What does mid market mean?
