Which groups in Austin were impacted? Marketing? Sales?
@aa yes, you are 110% right. There is only risk in the move. IBM will lay you off within a year of moving to the new location. Seen many who thought they would escape the IBM layoff axe by taking that option, but that never happened unless they were really high up on the food chain. And you have to train your replacement in India too. Some things never change.
