How was the Xmas gathering on Dec 15 at office north of HQ? people drove up from HQ to cheer the folks up. They asked for us to RSVP but I ignored it.
No attempt even made to recognize the winter holidays by my team or department...
They don't even pay for engineer lunches, that's how much they care about their engineers. They will sometimes bring catered food for management or one or two core product teams and then secretly announce that food is available, then let the word spread around. When people find out about the free left over food, they will make their way over and grab food.
…there are holiday parties here?
In 2018 and 2019 the San Diego HQ office gave a mediocre free lunch on the lawn of the office courtyard in mid December.
In 2020 (pandemic) we had a casual hour teams meeting to celebrate and some sort of $20 gift bag mailed from our VP.
2021 nothing. Not even a card or anything from our department leadership. They probably sent a group holiday email to the team, but who remembers that.
For 2022 it looks like my department and team will not do anything.
For those attempting to think behind Christmas, Hanukkah starts the evening of Sunday December 18 — so if sending some general winter holidays greeting / gift / celebration, you probably want to do it this week.
At least I hear the London office had a nice jolly get together.
