I know it's not likely but it's also not impossible. We still need to see how the whole EU thing is going to play out. Imagine going through months and months of stressing and worrying and some people leaving for jobs that pay less just to find out that there'll be no acquisition. I can't even imagine how I'd feel in that case. Not good, that's for sure.

VMware was doomed when EMC bought them in 2004…this is their same playbook. Enjoy the circle of he-l that accompanies it.
Maybe then Dell and Silver Lake can try an actually manage a company not using it's scorched earth playbook? Ya know, clean house, hire an actual competent C-suite, clean up the obvious fluff and cruft and get cracking...
One can dream.
Personally, I hope it doesn't go through despite the impact on stock etc. I won't be staying anyway if Hock takes over, so the drop of stock price isn't as big a deal vs. finding a new job that likely won't have as good a RSU/Salary package imho given market conditions.
Not only will you have had this stress for months, you will see all your RSU values cut by almost 50%. The stock will drop and new management will come in anyway because the company needs to be straightened out.
If it doesnt happen do you think Dell and Silverlake will just go "oh well, lets just leave VMW alone"
They own BILLIONS in a company that bleeds money. They will make changes or this will happen.
In any case, change is coming, it is NEVER going back to "the way it was before"
