Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Just a month left

Ready to retire after 30 years at Shell and don't plan to ever look back. Corporate life nearly ki-led me slowly, but at least I’m financially secure. I know many are not as lucky. One thing's for sure, I'm never going back to that grind. The office politics can stay behind me forever.

They are correct back in the 80’s Shell was great now it’s way different and those that say bad things about this person your just scared to loose your high paying job because you will not make the same amount of money if you left Shell. Sold your sole to the Devil. Later

OP. Brother, I feel the same way. Left early this year and left everything in the rear view mirror. After 40+ years I was done. It wasn’t so much going to work everyday, it was more about putting up with the bu115hit from management, disgruntled employees and what the company had morphed into over the last 20 years. When I first started with Shell it was a great place to work, but that was the 80’s when the company valued employees and most senior management knew who you were, because they actually cared. People hired in the last 20 years wouldn’t understand how good it was back then. Good luck to everyone still there. Hope the future works out for you at Shell.

@md you should ask for a transfer to HR if you are not already there. You obviously have very high EQ.

Are you a bed wetter?

Oh my, @fn must still be dealing with the time change; it can make one cranky.
If that’s the way he/she reacts to a colleague’s good news, you can only feel sorry for him/her and be glad they’re not on your team.

It’s a wonderful sense of relief to see Shell in the rear view. I do hope you enjoyed your time, colleagues and accomplishments during your tenure but regardless of your rank, you’ll be just another retiree in the grocery store checkout line.
And that beats sitting in meetings, annual forced ranking exercises, worrying about the next cutbacks, etc. every single day of the week!

Well Done! Congratulations on your retirement. I wish you many years of happiness. On wards to a wonderful time.

If it was voluntary why not December 31 for tax purposes?

A recommendation, volunteer, stay active, and do good works.
