I’ve been here for almost a year and a half. Top performer in my store, we’re a small store not super high volume. I was wanting to move up to Assistant Manager and eventually Sr Manager Retail. But I don’t see that happening. There’s no new stores being built around me, nobody is being promoted, my store managers have stayed the same since I was hired. why would they promote a top performer when they can just keep performing?

@OP I keep hearing through the grapevine vine that senior retail managers have no job security right now. Overpaid and underperforming that last few quarters. Let’s face it, we sell a product that can easily be sold via the new AI we’ve all been helping train. I could see most retail brick and mortar stores closing down with the current trending recession.
Because you are a top performer that doesn't mean you will get promoted to an AM or a GM
If you haven't noticed the assistant managers aren't there because they were superstar sales reps...
Those who are AM's are there because they are good at bhutt kissing.
You are mad that you haven’t been promoted in a year and half? Get a grip they are laying off most of the onshore staff of this company..
Everyone’s always a “top performer” give me a break
I also disagree. You have to be flexible. Don’t be tied to your location or locations. Keep performing. You will surprise how fast things can change
Id disagree. Retail needs good leaders and it's a tough job. The openings typically come in waves and sounds like your area has just been in a season of stability that's rare. Relocation will open your options tremendously.
