@dh you are very wrong. upon receipt of a lump sum severance, you are eligible for unemployment the next week.

Maybe I am wrong, please correct me if I am. Unemployment benefit is another system scam. When you apply they ask about if you got your severance and the amount. Assume you got 20k severance, they will deduct every weekly benefit payment from 20k, assume it is 400 weekly, so you will be eligible for the benefit approximately in 12 months. In case if you find a job in that period you are not eligible anymore.
