EVs are now 10 percent of new car sales in the states, what will this industry be in 15 years will it end up like coal?

For year 2024 about 9% of ev were sold and about 11% of hybrids were sold. With Trump ev will more likely go down and hybrids may stay the same. Auto manufactures may be cutting back on ev’s.
Still will have a need for air planes...diesel trucks still take food to grocery stores..What about NASCAR? boat races? I am guessing EV can't replace these ?
Seeing as though the EU and now US are turning back on its coal-powered electricity supply, physics will always win in due time. Also, there are 7 billion other people on tis planet who want to live like westerners. Developing markets need a lot of hydrocarbons to make that happen.
We could always install a waste heat capture device on the E L T floor. Sure to generate plenty of energy off the hot air.
What ever happened to Solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) technology? I recall it was touted at one time, but now it seems to have fizzled out....
Battery tech is advancing so fast outside of the US. LFP is getting so cheap and is so much better and safer than the lithium cobalt chemistry we make and use in the US. It's not even close.
But yeah, I don't think hydrocarbons are going anywhere soon. I need about 20 years until retirement. I think I'm fairly safe
Even battery’s can be an environmental problem also. Yes what you have said @bk that is very true.
FFS! This is such a garbage site with AI bot cr-p
Unless there is a massive breakthrough in battery technology and alternative energy technology, the demand for hydrocarbon is only going to increase.
The only reason electric vehicles are 10% is because of CAFE regulations, auto manufacturers sell EVs at a loss to meet corrupt government regulations then tac that loss onto vehicles people actually want to buy.
Even with a miraculous EV tech breakthrough, you still need lubricant ion for bearings, solvents, pharmaceuticals, plastics, asphalt….
Ultimately hydrocarbons aren’t going anywhere, anyone at the top telling you otherwise is an insider saboteur and needs to be outed.
Hydrogen is the power plant of the universe it’s just unstable at our scale. Hydrocarbon is the safest and cleanest form of energy when deployed correctly.
I only need another 15 so whatever
