@11h Everyone paying attention knows any jobs being “moved” to Houston is only a temporary step before being moved to a tech center, probably BTC.

Depends… you talking gulf coast refineries or Canada? In Canada, with 7 years experience you might be a CL25 if you’ve had a good run (but could be CL24 too). CL25 chemE likely around $140-150 CAD = $100-110k US.

That’s atleast 40% below US counterparts. This makes me wonder what the real game was behind shifting so many Canadian jobs to Houston where they’d pay significantly more. So much for corporate separateness… very strange how Imperial board can allow outsourcing to a higher cost centre…. Oh wait… the board is compromised and nobody wants to talk about it…. Hopefully a class action at some point can lead to jail time.

Go LNG…learn the system then you will command $250,000 to $350,000 working on a new build overseas.

To put in perspective a Colombian Chem E with terrible English Skill and 5 years LNG experience from Texas is working an expat position overseas and is making over $285,000 base as a deputy facility manager.

Stay the he-l away from Cancer Alley Refineries

Wrong.....I would say 140-165k. 7 years, you will still be CL25 most likely in today's climate, that will put you in this range.

Should be $170k/year bare minimum. I personally wouldn’t take anything below $180k/year.
