Thread regarding Newell Brands layoffs

ATL layoffs inbound

Do you think Newell is in better shape than many or most of these companies who all just announced layoffs? No way that this week’s Q3 results are going to be strong enough to fight the peer pressure and shareholder pressure. Plus, we all know there’s too many people and not enough desks at the new HQ. Newell Brands Yankee Candle, 900 job cuts

Newell Brands is Atlanta based.
CBS News

The company will close about 20 Yankee Candle stores across the United States and Canada early in 2026. It has not yet published a store list, so specific cities are not named.
CBS News

More than 900 jobs, roughly 10 percent of Newell’s workforce, will be cut. Layoffs begin in December 2025 and are part of a cost cutting and automation plan.

$3.18/share
Yup. This is totally fine.
Fire sale? Bankruptcy (that’s in the Huet playbook, too)? Or layoffs until the numbers are friendlier and the market rebounds?

@aa Huet’s supposed to be a “turnaround pro” but her only tool seems to be cutting people, in precisely the wrong places at the exact wrong times. So, Home - specifically Brand - would be dangerous right now. R&D consolidation probably across the board, on paper looks too bloated.

@aa hard to say. There hasn’t seemed to be much rhyme or reason to their targets in the past.
