Thread regarding Charter Communications Inc. layoffs

Layoffs - FTE vs Contractors

What’s Charter’s typical stance when it comes to layoffs? Do they usually cut contractors or full-time employees first? With 1,200 FTEs being laid off, I would’ve expected to see more contractors let go, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Is anyone else noticing this?

They'd likely rather keep the cheaper contract labor over FTEs.

Removing the contractor early doesn't really do the company any good because the way these contracts work, Charter is already out the money/can't recover what they've spent by releasing them early. Contracts are 6 months, and typically line up with the beginning of the year (Jan to June, and July to December). So I wouldn't expect to hear about any contractors being let go for now, but come December I expect to hear about a lot of contracts not being renewed.
