There has been so little investment in the cable side there are bound to be massive layoffs here. Still overstaffed for so few hours of original programming, with many people doing very little work (through no fault of their own).

@a4 , you're in for a rude awakening.
@aa I’m in finance. CBS brings in the most money. More than any other part of the business combined.
@a4 Wrong! I work in Finance and the cable networks make way more money than CBS. Broadcast is a dying business, just like cable. Cable networks still make the majority of this company's profits. Film Division is losing $ YTD. And streaming JUST turned a very small profit. Read the company's earnings reports. It's all public info.
@a8 Yeah, it doesn't take even one person to schedule the current MTV output... 23 hours of ridiculousness.
There will be massive consolidation in Cable. Each channel doesn’t need 15 people scheduling 2 promos over and over with almost zero original content. But like it or not cable is still profitable because of contracts.
@a4 Yes, CBS is a money maker but if you think NO ONE can be laid off from that division, I think you are in for a rude awakening.
@a5 If they lay us off they lose all of their money.
@a4 you are incredibly delusional.
CBS makes the most money out of any part of the company. They cannot lay any of us off.
Duh?
