Thread regarding CGG Veritas layoffs

No backbone

I recently joined Viridien thinking that this was a progressive company making progress on social issues like equity and moving away from oil and gas towards the energy transition and renewables. Lately it feels like these goals have been completely abandoned with a real lack of direction and no ambition. Don’t be fooled by the values that the company promotes externally as there is no conviction behind any of it.

Yes they got rid of the Head of Inclusion and Diversity and merged the title into another role so that says all you need to know about the companies commitment to their IDEA agenda. No doubt some people will be happy about this.

Been quite recently, but just heard about new starters asked to go in last
months,so go careful what you say. Would of thought they would be better at picking
new people. couple of big names to bet that surprised them cos they was always
sticking up for company on here, calling out people for saying bad things, wondering
if they feeling good now.

"Replacing a female CEO who has Middle Eastern heritage with a straight, white male isn’t very progressive. The hypocrisy of this company is off the scale."

It's not progressive to simply make diversity hires. It's progressive to consider and recruit people from all backgrounds - which includes white males.

The backbone was ripped out of Velseis when CGG took them over in 2007. More than USD $5B lost and all that remain are a bunch of wantabe chinese losers.

“ moving away from oil and gas towards the energy transition and renewables “

I think you’ve failed to understand that oil and gas are part of the energy transition. You wouldn’t have the job you are complaining about if it wasn’t for continuing oil and gas exploration and production.

You are right about lack of progress on equity and totally directionless leadership though.

The glitter may be new, but the t*rd underneath? Vintage.

To my younger self, I fully understand your disappointment. You have been lied to; you can blame your naivete. You will learn to see through the BS facade most companies promote externally. If they told you what we really do, you wouldn't have come. There is very little left "beyond the core". The name can be changed to something greener, but the grass ain't. As a poet here once said: "You may not be able to polish a t-rd, but you can roll it in glitter!"
