Thread regarding Paramount Global layoffs

Benefits Email

I’m greatly disappointment in this company for sending an email encouraging employees to sign up for their annual benefits knowing most won’t be here in 2026. It feels incredibly insensitive and tone deaf. I understand that this is business, but we are also human and that should come with some sort of empathy.

OP buddy you don’t want to know what happens if you ignore this email, do not make elections, get laid off next week and loose access to corporate portal that allows you to make elections. Where do you think your insurance will come from during severance period and after that under COBRA? This is just pure brain rot tantrum.

@a6 I doubt you are an employee but if you are maybe you won’t be at the end of next year. No company benefits from an attitude like yours.

"Most"? There are 2,000 layoffs in a company of 18,000...that's a large number but nowhere near "most"

We’ve gotten so soft. Now simple routine emails are offending people.

Who are the people being mean on these threads? So rude and hateful. I don't understand it. Don't you have anything constructive to do? or one ounce of kindness in your soul? And yes, losing benefits is one of the worst part of layoffs. And it does sting to see the emails.

This occurs the same time every year. Just a coincidence here. That said the health plan remains garbage

Some terminated folks might have severance periods that extend into the new year, so I imagine they would still need to have a benefits plan in place in order to qualify for COBRA.

As someone else mentioned, this is the standard time for open enrollment, so yes it su-ks that it coincides with layoffs, but I don’t think there was really much of a workaround, and I don’t think they are trying to be intentionally insensitive.

If you are a PBE under 24 Seven and get laid off you will lose your benefits at the end of October! Please reach out to them to make sure they have your personal email in case you get locked out. They said you can continue on the health insurance at the premium price which is a scam. Be proactive and protect yourselves because they do not care!

Even if you are the Business owner you would have done the same .
Business need to run and just because there is a layoff around they can't stop everything and put things on hold.

Although the timing of it isn’t optimal, I don’t see it as insensitive. “Most” will be here and need to sign up for their benefits.

So you expect people who remain at the company to not sign up for benefits? I’m confused.
