I’m using up PTO next week Monday through Friday and here’s why you should too. It’s been proven that if you’re OOO during layoffs you don’t get laid off. They cannot lay you off when you come back because the lay offs need to happen on that date they’re scheduled for. If they don’t happen on that date because you’re OOO then they won’t happen at all. It skips you!

My coworker was laid off while they were at Disney World, so no!
My boss was laid off while attending her father’s funeral!!!
i think the whole post was a troll post ..
Hahaha this is such BS. We literally called people on vacation to lay them off last sept. If you're on the list, being on PTO isn't going to save you.
My colleague was laid off last round while on her honeymoon so it definitely still happens
I hide underneath my desk like Costanza
I had to call someone on vacation last time to lay them off. The original post is a lie. If you are on the list you are going.
What a lame attempt at ID'ing employees posting here anonymously.
🤦♀️
My friend got laid off from Paramount while on vacation a year ago. She was in Europe and received a zoom link from HR. Then her boss called her and said she needed to be on that zoom, despite the time difference in Europe. She, in fact, did get laid off while on vacation.

OP is right and all of these troll a-s comments are just here because they don’t want you to know this hack.
There’s also rules about laying off on a full moon, feb 29 on a leap year, etc. listen to to the main poster
LOLOLOL - needed a laugh today, a nice break from the doomsday feelings in the office
Legally and practically, employers can notify you of a layoff even if you’re on vacation. You might receive the notice by email, phone, or when you return, but your employment status can still end on the official layoff date.
I just looked this up on Google and it said I can still be laid off if I’m OOO. Where are you seeing this?
