Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

How can Cisco not to continue mass layoffs

The growth of Cisco was/is built on acquisitions. When the business was growing in the 1990 and early 2000, this was not a problem. However, this strategy is working against Cisco now because the core and culture of Cisco have become very corrupt and toxic. Once a new acquisition is merged into Cisco, it soon become a liability from an asset. One can easily see what happens to Meraki and Splunk lately to understand this. With the increased headcount and a flat top line, mass layoffs are a required to keep the company afloat under a bunch of incompetent management.

Trust me, only people believe that LKN craps are those who are trying to fake. They managed to convince themselves that cut/paste works...

I can’t wait to crank off during earnings and climax as the miss is announced and Caught Robbin expresses a growth has and will be sustained via a strong backlog and AI growth as an AI leader. As the likes of META, Amazon and Alphabet are abandoning their AI strategies; Cisco, the real AI leader driving growth through partnerships with Nvidia and a strong backlog are doubling down on their AI offering and leveraging the broad customer base for strategic AI ventures and offerings. Cisco is the AI leader. The true leader in AI innovation.

When was the last time you heard Cisco in the news absolutely crushing it? I'll wait ... sad because I spent 15 years there and was proud of that! The entire ELT needs to be pushed out, IMHO

Very insightful analysis of current state at Cisco and its downward spiral happening now. Talent has no place in Cisco, and are slowly being booted out.

It isn't about numbers, its about costs. Cisco is run by, and competes on, cost management.

Cisco can employ 10k in Bangalore for the cost of 2k in the US, and that is exactly what is happening. Bangalore is the only Cisco office that is seeing continued hiring.

Cost-focused companies will always be bottom-feeders that aren't bothered by being mediocre with respect to their product. Look at IBM, Stellantis, or a multitude of low-end retail.

If you want to work for a cost-manager, then you accept that you are going to be managed as a cost.

@bs that’s exactly what happened here in the U.K. for 4+ years after CP got suddenly promoted to a Sr SE Director position from being a DevNet marketing guy. He pushed out performing managers and hard working, talented ICs that he perceived in his paranoia as “threats” to his position. Stacked the management layer with hand picked useless drones. DM stood by and watched it happen without lifting a finger. CP was a DEI hire and used the same principle to fortify himself with his cronies. UK SE team used to be one of the technically most advanced inside of Cisco. Now all that is left are the flatterers, pretenders and BSers. If LinkedIn is to be believed then CP is now all of a sudden an Agentic AI and Quantum expert. As commented on other threads, you need a Patel God at Cisco to survive and thrive.

They will follow other companies involved in the "Great Flattening".

@bs Yes, the hiring practice, from a country that rhymes with Bindia, have completely destroyed Cisco. Ongoing (and rapid) caste and friends/family hires have been horrible for the business. But at this point it’s an accelerating downward cycle.

The problem doesn't end there. Layoffs often target hardworking, experienced individuals who could have potentially been promoted to higher positions, but are dismissed by narrow-minded leaders using such a high-sounding excuse. Those left behind are often boasters, liars, and flatterers, who gradually rise to management positions. This continuous process of reverse elimination has shaped Cisco's current management team.

Cisco will eventually figure out they are buying into baggage that is only if Cisco ELT are humble enough, but with current ELT, will drive Cisco to the ground.
