Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Younger workers figured it out faster than we did

The only real raise or promotion comes from leaving. Loyalty doesn’t pay bills anymore. Exxon will dump you the second it’s convenient, so why stick around? Work a few years, build skills, then move on. That’s just how it works now. I wish I figured that out when I was young enough to start again somewhere else.

I noticed younger workers are mostly useless in the US and don't care to be anything but. So companies don't hire them much.

They threatened layoff, or move for the company, told them to pound sand. Got a 27% raise working for a different company, with better benefits, and work from home most days. Plan on working this gig for a few years and finding something even better. Keep looking.

It's true, an investment banker once told me 20+ years ago that the quickest way to raise or promotions is to leave and go to another company.

Loyalty is gone. Your current company will walk you out without a notice. Always be looking . . . . you owe your current company nothing.
