All big tech firm, Amazon included, send employees and executives all over the world to live and work. While some might be necessary, but it’s costing the company! Expatriate package includes paying for luxury housing, maids, children private school tuitions, language school tuitions, cost of living adjustment, foreign income taxes, global health insurance, and business class home trips. Many have lived the luxury expatriate life for over 10 years, moving from one country to another. Most expatriates live better than when they were in their home country. The costs for each expatriate is easily over 5 times the normal salary by the time you factor in the the expenses paid by the company. Company should cut down expatriate cost by hiring local or transfer employees to a different country but localized them. Paying for a one time moving expenses, I’m pretty sure many are willing to take it to experience living abroad. This is something every company needs to look into for serious cost cutting!

Interesting. What kind of numbers are we talking about? It sounds like a corporate form of colonialism. Do Amazon warehouse workers know about this largesse?
