Merit Increase Work Remote

Since I know Fiserv leadership has watchers on this board...let's make this an option next year. Just finished reading an article that researchers found employees would accept a lower wage in exchange for remote work. Fiserv could save some coin on merit increases if they allowed employees to exchange some % for remote work flexibility. What would you exchange for more remote work?

The best spin management of any company has ever put on WFH is that it's a benefit (read: somehow costs the company money) and that they're doing you some great favor by offering it. It's rubbish. The only way a company might lose money through WFH is possibly through lost tax breaks that are based on employees being physically present on site.

To look at it another way, instead of workers accepting a lower salary to WFH, they should ask why they're not getting a cut of the RTO tax breaks.

Learn a lesson Junior - don’t ever ever ever accept a lower wage for your work. If it’s of quality and your wage is market-level, working from home should be a Where Do I Work decision. Do not, under any circumstances, ever suggest a pay cut from your employer if your work quality remains comstant.

I should be paid for the job I do, regardless of where I perform the work. I would definitely not accept no raise/less money to work remotely.

How about they get rid of this JSOC group. They seem to be days behind in alerting us of emergencies.

I haven’t heard from them since I called my boss with Covid 5 yrs ago

They could save money by not owning big buildings and paying for services to work in those buildings. They have to pay taxes, landscaping upkeep, parking lot maintenance, internet, electric, heating, cooling, water bills, toilet paper, soap, pens, paper, printers. All that money could be zero or very little if people worked from home. They could have a small building for collaboration or meetings, but teams could also just meet somewhere public that could be rented if needed.
