It’s a huge problem at QC and along with many companies hiring Indians. Within the FA organization, one of the managers has consistently hired predominantly Indian engineers to replace departing employees in his group. In addition, there are broader issues within the department, including favoritism involving another FA manager and instances of nepotism with a different individual.
this is an utterly d-mb thread and the article quoted here lifts material from this very website, talk about irony ki-ling itself! I am not sure who the “author” of the quoted story is. It’s every person for themselves and no one is caring about the next guy from their village talking the same language lmao. As in that “story”, no manager is going to “hire only their village people and work them to the bone”….not sure exactly where is the proof. IMO many managers are evil just by the dint of being managers, skin color and nationality not withstanding. IMO many managers are good people just by the dint of being managers, skin color and nationality not withstanding. I have seen both types, either people managers or leads. And sorry to bust your feelings, but the folks who never gave open and honest feedback at the right time but rather preferred to stab in the back at the worst time were not who y’all are thinking about.
If majority of American company’s employees are in Asia. Good luck to that company !
History has shown that these companies are just surviving with small revenue growth without any actual innovation.
Some of the them are cisco, HPE, IBM, oracle (bubble stock at present) and many more.
this is not unique
it has happened at many companies
micron is another one
inside these companies are a mess
Qualcomm's Bangalore and Hyderabad sites are now bigger than its San Diego HQ in terms of employee count. Increasingly the top positions at Qualcomm are being taken over by Indians, as non-Indians are fired or otherwise pushed out. The general manager of mobile connectivity recently departed the company and was replaced with an Indian. This has happened enough times since Palkhiwala took over that it's likely intentional behavior on his part. The whistleblower believes he is the one actually running Qualcomm and the CEO is just a token.
According to a post by publisher and TV host Matt Forney on X, the whistleblower claims Palkhiwala is aggressively shifting Qualcomm’s workforce overseas, setting an internal target of 70% of employees based in India and just 30% in the U.S. This move reportedly comes amid a hiring freeze and layoffs of American staff.
Qualcomm has a serious Indian problem. It resembles some Indian sweat shop. The work culture has gone for a toss. Favoritism is rampant and it all reflects on the company performance. I am glad I got out in 2023 and I joined AMD. It was a complete change of scenery and culture. The work culture is much better and I don't have to deal with the incompetent Indian manager any more. Qualcomm will soon go down the drain.
I was based in NJ before I was laid off in 2023. I couldn’t recall a good Indian manager. However, they got good reviews from their bosses who hired them to speak good things about their bosses in front of upper management. They won’t get reviews from their team members because they were quite harsh and incompetent in general. One senior Indian manager claimed he wouldn’t do coding at all. He was not lying
