Thread regarding Gartner Inc. layoffs

More to come

Layoffs in Spain were confirmed again today via an early morning email, following a pattern similar to the previous announcement. Thoughts are with all colleagues.

At Gartner Digital Markets in Spain, they announced 4 weeks ago that 120 people would lose their jobs by the end of November. It's a disgrace how people have been mis-treated, bullied into leaving, and encouraged to take minimal severance packages over the last few years. Senior Management have no sense of reality and turn a blind eye to everything that is happening.

The he-l of it is that they need top SEO talent (like decades of experience needed) to reinforce the GDM brands (the headwaters of the business model). My heart goes out to everyone impacted; the layoffs are far more wrenching than they need to be with the amount of value that could be unlocked if leadership would just acknowledge that they need specialized skill sets to compete organically.

I know for a fact that top SEO talent they needed was in the running for a VP - Technical SEO role that was open a year ago. All of this could have been avoided if leadership wasn't so godda-ned egotistical and stubborn.

@OP

Is it because upcoming financial results are going to be worse than expected?

@ah

Yeah, but that wasn't the meaning, it "doesn't constitute layoffs" only meant that you sum them up (the pushed out, etc) and over the months it's a whole bunch.

@aa GDM, TA, HR aren’t analysts last time I checked. 150 people is more than just ‘a few being pushed out’

Over the months, many analysts have been pushed out. Doesn't constitute "layoffs".
