Beginning on Friday, Google intends to combine Waze's more than 500 employees with its Geo division, which manages the Maps, Earth, and Street View products.

Given that both Google Maps and Waze will continue to be separate projects, then only a few VPs will be looking for new roles.
They may start to whittle down headcount, but that can be done by attrition.
I have heard that there will be deep cuts once this merge is complete.
Lots of employees will be shown the door unfortunately
