Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Better ways to save money than layoffs

Minnesota is no longer the state it was. Watch the documentary “A precarious state MN” on YouTube. Why not move corporate headquarters out of Minnesota to a more tax friendly state? Save on corporate taxes, vs laying off workers . Employee survey is coming up. Not sure that the people living in MN would suggest this, but it seems like a great alternative. Bonus, if they moved headquarters out of MN that would allow those staying in MN to work remotely. Just a thought. I am so sick and tired of seeing good people let go.

American companies are becoming shell companies for India. All the private equity nonsense has ties back to India. It’s a concerted effort to extract as much wealth out of America, rather than making America better.

@ab Optum's already moving management jobs to India, and it's just the start. Pretty soon, the India office will be handling most of the work. So, why should the company focus on American employees? Optum's an American company, sure, but it doesn't need American people to keep things running.

Layoffs here aren't about genuinely saving money or things being too expensive. It's about artificially manipulating the stock price and keeping it high, offshoring everything you possibly can because you don't pay much for it (but you get low quality in return), and lining the pockets of the executive leadership with obscene bonuses and stock options. The top needs to be completely overhauled, and the company refocused on American employees.

I love the idea of thinking outside the box and not just abruptly snatching everyone’s livelihood away.
