Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Cisco managers

Obviously leaving is the best course of action (working on that lol), but how do folks deal with incompetence with their management? I can’t think of one thing my manager does to protect the team, and we are the last people to learn about anything. I feel like it’s having a larger impact on our team/project but what should I do? 🙏🏻

Create an HR case to replace your manager with you.

Managers are so scared of losing their jobs. That is why they do not give you visibility and credit for your hard work and innovation so that they can claim it was them who told you what to do and it was them who had all the ideas and directions while it was just the opposite, you had innovative ideas, you were the one who came up with directions and ultimately you were the one behind the success of the projects. That is what happened to me repeatedly at Cisco and when I spoke up, I got laid off.

I'm on good terms with my manager an past managers; they are nice, helpful etc.

BUT - they are trapped on the Titanic just like the rest of us and are powerless. Its easy for our relationship to be positive since there is nothing they can really do anyway, they have no power.

Get a Patel god. Look at RLG. Talk to CP about how to use DEI to crash a perfectly oiled system . And then you’ll be a manager
