It’s disheartening to now know that leadership’s idea of the ideal org size is always smaller. It’s also disheartening to hear many people on this board say similar things - “we could use less of x or y groups.” Makes me wonder if anyone actually knows how to properly operate a company of this size and complexity.

Unfortunately the top of the ivory tower has the view that “people are no longer our most valuable resource, our processes are”. Let that sink in, along with “comfortable to keep ratcheting down until something breaks to find the true bottom”.
Management is cutting from the bottom instead of looking to flatten itself. The bottom is where most of the real work is done. Can't tell me we can automate a lot of the supply, product planning, scheming and the like. Heck, even the pdap can be automated by using AI to summarize and rank KO feedback. HR already automates promotions and salaries treatment. Time to flatten middle Management and fattening up jobs where you have to touch something other than a keyboard.
Well I suppose we are about to find out whether is is a good idea.
XOM is top heavy.
