The world is not ready for EV's

2025, and the EV market is still not accepted, and infrastructure is still not in place. Take a clue for $200 Fartley! That's the reason your EV's are not selling like hotcakes! Sales will not change, until someone fixes these issues.

@af How is it in the winter? And have you taken any of those road trips to the UP? I ask because even gas stations are sparse on a lot of routes, chargers even more, and even with an IC, you’re diligent of conditions while driving. Curious of your experience.

EV bust - Ford, GM, Rivian, Lucid ... Game Over for all EV programs.

EV Market Share

USA 8%
Norway 98.3%
China 50%
Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Netherlands all over 50%

Problem isn’t a world issue, it is domestic and until infrastructure improves and now the $7,500 incentive fizzled, sales will decline as Farley said yesterday.

So will P800 be delayed till 2030? Layoffs coming for Model E and Skunkworks CE1 program? Read between the lines and the OS Behaviours. U759 was canceled, nothing will shock me now. Put another $1B into another Train Station or Ford Racing programs.

It wasn’t ready in the early 1900s either, strangely enough, for the same reasons.

@af hey now, don't speak positively about an EV here...

In all seriousness, you speak the truth. They're not for everyone and are a great daily driver if you can charge at home.

Anyone who truly thought the entire US populace would switch in a vehicle generation or two is clueless. Or not realize that every other OEM was going to enter the EV market at the same time.
So now Jimmy is predicting 50% drop off in EV sales. Maybe he'll be right, but remember he's the guy who said Ford world be selling millions of EVs a year by now. He's a genius, I tell you... (/s for those who need it)

This is such a cr-p take, especially when Farley is talking mostly about hybrids lately.

The biggest challenge to infrastructure is how expensive it is to get a charger installed in an older home, or shared housing, like apartments and condos.

The ability to charge at home is a game changer for me. I don't miss gas stations at all. I take a road trip almost every weekend with no issue.

Are there issues still? Sure, but I question whether people who just say "There is no infrastructure" has ever driven one.

I love my Mustang Mach E even though I get cr-p range on it because I enjoy driving it fast. It meets over 90% of my driving requirements. Even when I had an ICE vehicle I would often rent a bigger vehicle for long road trips for comfort. I didn't need an explorer most of the year, so I rent one when I need it.

For us having one electric vehicle and one ICE vehicle works.

No, I don't think they are for everyone, but people focus way to much on the infrastructure. Even taking road trips I usually only have to public charge once a month or so.

I can just see the strategy discussion unfolding. We are going to skip hybrids and go all in on EVs. We can save a lot of money not working on hybrids and it will make us look progressive. And the government will subsidize them to make the cost more attractive. They apparently assumed that the range limitations, ‘refueling’ duration vs ICE, extreme cold/heat range impact, towing range issue, etc. could somehow be influenced away, not to mention the cost and concerns with battery life/replacement. Now after losing billions due to lack of demand, they are having to backtrack on their strategy. Even a dufus like me could see that EVs are ready for widespread adoption. I wish I could be an exec or on the BOD and be wrong with a corporate strategy without any consequences.

I was talking with an insider regarding the EV infrastructure. When all parties got together to work on this, they realized it wasn’t doable, so they all went to their respective sides and throw barbs at the others.
