There is no reason to have so many layers of management in the US for the supply chain group and I'm sure the same applies to other groups like polaris, gbs, emtec.
A prime example of bloat is the COE group in materials management full of people who aren't experts of anything but are the ones making over complex processes that fail and promoting made up savings figures to justify their jobs in houston. Why close our offices in sg and in canada when we have this bloat in likely every organization within XOM. Shame on SG and the VPs with their lies when EMSC was introduced.

SG is gone, how many more dominos are left to fall on this experiment?
If the company truly wants to consolidate and get more competitive, they need to start at their glass house first with their overpaid advisors, managers and execs. Drain the EM swamp in spring!
Concur, SC does seem to be very bloated. My experience has been they do exactly the opposite of what they were supposed to bring. Their burdensome layers, processes, meetings, and overall lack of technical knowledge cause undue delays and cost increases. Counters any potential synergies we were supposed to gain.
We could literally remove 2 to 3 layers of management in all areas of the company & be the better for it. IMO
the sad part is that there are a lot of great experienced and knowledgeable people in supply chain that can truly make an impact but get muzzled by the loud ones with other personal agendas and self preservation
Upper management in supply chain is completely useless. So out of touch with the business. The folks whose jobs are impacted and the ones doing anything of measurable impact. Don't take my word for it. Watch the impact. Supply chain has been and continues to be gutted. Message is pretty clearly manipulated, credit being taken for work not done, out of touch VPs who have no idea what they are doing . Very few left that actually care about developing a "resilient supply chain".
Houston supply chain folks; if the commitment to consolidation is as high as they say it is, watch out- your role with be in India or Curitiba soon.
Supply chain is the new safety dept where we send all the people who can’t cut it at a plant anyways
You can move? Just saying.
