Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Hello fellow colleague

I have been reading every post and comment that appears so far, and just super curious to know how some of you are so headstrong in the belief that the remote workers are only working 2 hours but getting paid for 8.

If you’re not a supervisor or a manager, perhaps you’re paying too much attention to other people’s work, and need to focus on your own.

If you are in a leadership position and notice an issue with an employee slacking off. Maybe actually act like a leader. I know it sounds crazy, but actually reach out and offer the support you are required to.

With the ability to track keystrokes, mouse clicks, and calls/ tasks completed. No one is doing only 2 hours of work. If they are, however doing the bare minimum, that’s a team and leadership issue, as well as an overall company issue of not providing a reason why someone needs to work harder.

So in summary, don’t get upset someone isn’t willing to create unnecessary stress on themselves to hit 100% product and quality which will I turn burn themselves out. So they decide this is a job to clock in, clock out and meet the productivity quota at the lowest end.
If the company didn’t want employees doing that they wouldn’t set that threshold to begin with.

If you’re upset because you think you’re working harder than most. I promise you, if you’re focusing on others work and pay and have the time to come on here to be mean. You’re not a hard worker. Not even close.

@OP Have you heard of silent quitting? "So they decide this is a job to clock in, clock out and meet the productivity quota at the lowest end."

Silent quitting (or quiet quitting) describes an employee's decision to stop going above and beyond at work, instead performing only the minimum required duties to keep their job and maintain a work-life balance. It is a form of "mentally checking out" from a job, characterized by a reduced commitment and enthusiasm for work beyond the job description, often as a response to burnout, feeling undervalued, or seeking better boundaries between professional and personal life.

If I have 2 hours of down time at home, I have that at the office as well.

Work waxes and wanes. Not everyone is working from a steady call queue all day long. That’s not realistic.

If I am a do nothing at home I am a do nothing warming a chair in the office. Same works for the opposite extreme.

People seem to lack a basic critical thinking skill in maybe others aren’t FT workers. There is part time positions and depending if you had a baby, have medical issues or have a schedule conflict HR and your manager can adjust you to a flex schedule or just give you part time hours. You’re still not getting paid for FT work though. I swear I don’t understand how some of these comments are actually real people who work beside or above me.

What everyone can agree on is that
Managers at UHG su-k. They have no clue how to lead or manage. Most only now how to condescend and destroy morale. All they are worried about is their bonus and kissing leaderships a-s. I think UHG would function better by getting rid of them, putting in team leaders and the team managing themselves .

I am a remote worker with a very poorly led team. Our manager is quite literally terrible. With that being said I can tell you I work well over 8 hours a day. No over time ... Who ever thinks remote workers are lally gagging around are mis informed. My position is not easy and there is no way to only work 2 hours without getting flagged by the monitoring system.
