Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

My Two Cents on Citi Layoffs

The way Citi is handling layoffs is beyond disrespectful. Getting a random unexpected call saying your position is eliminated, with no clarity on severance, is barbaric. The uncertainty is hanging over those still working, waiting for their turn. It's clear to everyone, yet management acts oblivious.
I've been through layoffs before, and there's a right way to do it—team meetings, advance notice, incentives to stay and help with the transition. Citi has the resources but chooses greed instead.
They don't seem to realize this will backfire.
If they don't start treating people like human beings, they'll regret it. I'm ready to speak up and go to the media if needed. I've got nothing to lose by standing up for what's right.

This happens in every company. Do you remember the companies who made prerecorded zooms over covid times?????

Yeah you really can’t complain. You can but it’s pointless and kinda misleading you look childish. With AI coming, traditional corporate jobs are going to dwindle to nothing. Either keep working and be grateful, or start your own company and call the shots.

Agree, $hity management is worse than what I experienced few years ago. They don't care. You are just a number. Best thing is to learn what you can and then find another job.

All major American banks do the layoffs this way - front or back office - you are on borrowed time, hence the high pay years ago, and not so high today, hence why many people change industry or just quietly quit. No one, even your direct manager is aware if you are going to go or not - these decisions are taken at levels close to the CEO - stop complaining.
