Polynesian Cultural Center announces layoffs in Laie

The Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie, Hawaii will lay off 10 percent of its full time staff, about 15 to 25 employees, citing a tourism downturn and reduced attendance. Notices indicate employment ends Sept 30, 2025.

Regional forecasts point to a mild recession in Hawaii with declining visitor arrivals and spending, adding pressure on attractions like PCC. Some affected staff could be rehired if visitor volumes rebound.

Hawaii has gotten to expensive to visit with all the high taxes and minimum wage increases. Like Vegas, used to be a great place to visit and only for the rich now
