Genuine question - Does anyone even find themselves productive in the office? Not here to rant - actually just genuinely curious. My in office days are filled with trying to tune out an outrageous amount of noise and side chatter about sports, etc. (people playing mini golf in the aisles, solving puzzles). How is that collaborative when it comes to a work environment? I have to struggle to tune out the insane amount of noise and random people coming up to my desk to talk in order to actually get my job done properly. I get ten times the amount of work done at home. So frustrating.

Imagine being in the middle of a highly complex and time sensitive project, and you hear someone announce their favorite sports team won last night at maximum volume and then proceed to discuss details at that same volume. And before you comment, yes I have tried earplugs. Even industrial grade lol
The in-office chaos is just part of it. Outcomes only matter if they can be spun into optics. RTO isn’t about productivity, it’s about butts in seats. Same with the AI-glam headshots, staged town halls, and forced engagement , all theater so leadership can keep cashing in stock and protecting their comp. Whether it’s delusion or entitlement (or both), it’s always their self-interest over everyone else.
Solving puzzles shouldn’t be that distracting unless they’re playing jeopardy lol. But the other stuff can certainly grind nerves.
It's hard to be productive here at The Peak when you constantly havd to worry about SoMos ambushing you when you are going to or coming from your car.
@OP Hey there - then look at "in office" days as a vaca and relax a little - enjoy the cafeteria and those around you, take a walk outside - be productive on the two days your at home - that is what the company wants :)
@bf completely agree. If I called and heard that chaos in the background, I would trust a word of what that person was saying
100% we sound like we are in a Comcast call center instead of professionals. Clients picture us in our own offices but that facade quickly fades away when they hear everyone in the background. Plus I come in really early and a few peoples voices carry really loudly and that is the worst thing to wake up to every morning
I actually feel so unprofessional and embarrassed when I’m on an important phone call with a client and someone behind me is yelling about pot luck ideas which is background noise that can clearly be heard. Do better Schwab.
Absolutely! It’s not just about working from home. Sometimes, creating a report about the work is more important than the work itself. Missing a non-regulatory deadline and needing more resources is more important than delivering on time if a manager can add people or use an excuse. Attending meetings is more valued than actually doing the work. And agreeing to plans that aren’t perfect without saying anything is more valued than saving the effort.
