Thread regarding Baker Hughes layoffs

Layoffs

Any word on layoffs in Texas? Been hearing rumors of another round in October especially in the woodlands location.

GE were clever they dumped all the deadwood into BH and saved them a bunch of money isn't that obvious. The loser was Baker.

@k1 Perhaps, but GE Oil and Gas was a poor excuse of an OFS company. GE was in over their head in the Oil and Gas business, no question. GE parent company used BHI as a dumpster to clean out their OFS division mess, because they couldn't put enough lipstick on that pig to sell it. Had to try to package in with Baker to sell it off.

@fc Exactly — it was obvious before, and it still is. TAYO is power-hungry, and the rest of leadership is busy playing musical chairs. Look at the track records: hardly anyone lasts a year in a role before shifting again. That alone shows the lack of consistency, vision, and clarity at the top.

It’s run like a monarchy — wake up with a new idea in the morning, and all the “yes people” fall in line without challenge. The mantra of “change is the only constant” has been twisted and abused here, turning into a cover for instability.

With Thanksgiving approaching, the writing’s on the wall: layoffs will likely hit before February’s end. Lists will be made, the Latin mafia will stay in Houston, and everyone else will be shuffled out. The strategy is transparent — make the books look good in the segment they want to divest, so it’s packaged as lucrative for buyers.

@ch
Hate to say Buddy, but Baker was DOA when they merged with GE in the first place, & from there on it was always about divestment & shrinkage over investment & growth.
It’s a sad time in the World today when people are effectively paid top Dollar Bonuses for failure, because that’s what divestment really means to the people who are going to be divested real soon, if they haven’t been already.
Buckle up, Buckaroos, it’s going to get bumpy.

Anyone who is still in Baker hughes, keep an eye on the hiring in the deparment of the mergers and aquisitions, bunch of GE folks will be hired and moved in with legacy Baker Hughes personnel to be moved, a strategic move to position to sell the product lines with no emotional attachment - brilliant move if you look from outside but for Baker legacy people , its end of times here - divestment is on the horizon , either stay for the severance and they enter market with thousands of people or jump the ship and lose the severance. Will anyone in leadership will think of the people , he-l no - there will be a poll coming out and whoever answers negative will be on the list - this is how it works . Best of luck to all my friends there and all GE folks- well played
