A person from another team has been assigned to do things I’ve already been handling. Not all of them, but everything related to my work. It wasn’t extra work I needed help with, and it’s not someone I’ve ever worked with before. I’m honestly lost on why this is happening, and the only thing I can think of is that I’m about to be let go. Am I wrong?

@OP PACK YOUR BAGS
@bg very true with every merit raise you further move towards your exit.
If the country code on your phone number is 91 you will be fine. If not you ate totally sc--wed.
Don't worry, everyone is eventually gone.
Same happened to me and I’ve been with the company nearly 20 years. I essentially have nothing to do anymore because of poor leadership. It’s not what you know - it’s about whether or not you’re willing to bend over and take it up the a-s. I wish I could name my manager.
Yes, you’re being laid off. Start updating your resume now, if you don’t have a budget make one asap, go to any doctor’s or dentist appointments you’ve been putting off, lockdown any extra spending you can freeze for now, and remember you’ll get some severance and unemployment checks to keep you sustained through the year and into the hiring season.
Remember to breathe, this is a normal part of having a career and can be an opportunity to level up. You’re going to be okay.
Start looking out for internal roles actively. If you have good relationship with your manager, ask them if they can refer you to other teams - it weighs in if our manager recommends you to a role.
Same thing happened to me. What they said was that they want to shorten the delivery timeline. I said sure sure but I am giving my replacement guy side jobs to do, and still doing the core myself. I am telling him that those are not important. Yes, feel free to lay me off, I want to see them sc--wed.
Start looking for another job. Same happened to me.
you probably have 1-3 months left
