Honestly we will never get to the 2 billion number by laying off a bunch of low level employees barely making 6 figures. I see a few big names leaving but hardly enough. We all know we are top heavy. Discouraging not many more have been announced.

@va AMEN!!!
If VPs are laid off, so should their dept favorites (Directors and below) who do less work and have more privileges. There are moral issues with those who work harder and do not feel appreciated or recognized.
@jv If that’s true, that’s ridiculous!!!
For context, for a 1-bedroom apartment, the average monthly rent in NYC is approximately $4,407. Mind you, anywhere commuting distance from NYC is not much different, including all 5 boroughs. In the Caribbean, 1-bedroom apartments are, on average, ~$700 per month. Make it make sense.
And to the person who keeps bringing up Nashville: a one-bedroom in Nashville averages about $1,697. Again, we are not the same.
Most department salaries are different based on the work, sometimes salaries range internally within the same departments depending on qualifiers and/or daily workload. Industries’ comp standards set the base and Paramount is likely just below. There are likely managers and directors that make better salaries than VPs in others. I know this time is scary but wishing for the worst for your peers will not help you. I really hope you can find a way to get through this while maintaining your mental health.
@ff they don’t adjust for location. There are employees in the Caribbean with ny salary.
@ff Nashville is not cheap anymore.
@f8 yeah seems hard to believe. Everyone has to lose a little to hit that number. And sales and marketing unfortunately are looked at commonly in making those decisions
@fc And yes, I’ve been to Nashville. Not sure what your point is. You cannot compare it to NYC or LA. We are not the same.
@fc An income of $100,000 in NYC is equivalent to approximately $46,000 in Nashville.
@ed Middle America's cost of living is catching up too. Have you been to Nashville?
Too many 20+ years hanging on because they see the ones who where 20+ years who left and have to be a consultant because the steady jobs with benefits are increasingly rare year by year. They don't have a head start. Thats why they churn the underlings.
@bf rumor is sports sales will not be touched at all during layoffs. I find that hard to believe even though sports is making revenue. I’m expecting all departments will be impacted.
C’mon bro, this is common sense. There will be more layoffs of people at the top. Did you just want to state the obvious to stir sh*t?
@ec A $100,000 salary in NYC and LA is equivalent to roughly $36,000 in Middle America…so kindly stfu
Wait, you lower level employees are making 6 figures?
Definitely a lot of investment in sports right now, but they aren’t as safe from these layoffs as people in general make it seem. They will still lose people. IMO
Eh. Some departments only have 1 vp so it’s hard to generalize. I think entire teams are going to be ki-led. There’s a lot of redundancy and every cable net doesn’t need its own marketing and comms teams. News makes no money. Only sports is in a good place
You should be in HR! An expert on management of folks
@a6 You're diary reads "lets destroy libtards" every day.
Dear Diary, I am an employment expert. We have too many bosses. I don't like bosses. They make more than me because they work hard and I like to observe what I am not getting. Life isn't fair. I should have taken more science and math classes then I would show them. The end
