I’m definitely not in the state of mind, or the life circumstances, to spend weeks worrying nonstop about my job. I’d rather just find out now and be done with it. I need this job badly, since finding something else is near impossible these days. But I also need my sanity and my health. Shouldn’t leadership at least be able to make the process faster and more efficient?

How do you know I am not certified in meditation practices? Also, you might wish to read once more the post above, this time no skimming? You recall reading skills, detailed reading? With understanding if possible, and then comment again.
If you want to feel so mature and grown up, go and become a certified meditation guru and then talk condescending to (and make assumptions about) your clients, but not here.
This website is about layoffs, I repeat, this website is about layoffs (dah!) and that's what is being discussed here.
This website is about layoffs and it serves its purpose beautifully.
Look, in seems long time to wait for their decision, but at least it is not like in 2023, where it took 18 months. But in the meantime, if I may recommend, take is one day at a time and do not think about the next day. Organise your days well, keep busy and try to apply for what other positions just in case. Please, take care of yourself to avoid being to stressed once the decision has been made. I know a lady who was so stressed, that once she indeed got laid off, started a new position the following week. What happened, is she lost her new job after 5 months as she was causing tensions. The reason was, she stressed herself so much while waiting if she would make the cut or not in the previous company, and her anxiety took over completely. So, include in your daily plan talking to friend and family, as social bounding can relieve signs of anxiety. Include some relaxing activities of your liking as well, avoid caffeine and other stimulants. As we are now in autumn, take vitamin d 3 if needed, take care of your diet, focus on yourself. By doing the above, even if you do get cut, you will be mentally in a better place and more able to cope. Lastly, if you feel you can not cope, try to talk to a professional who might perhaps prescribe something for anxiety or just for more quality sleep. Or they can just advise better that I have above. It is your life that matters, not a job. Job is just a part of life, and everything will ok. You will see :-)
@OP If only they could get help with efficiency by accessing some kind of consulting-like firm.
