A better question would be "How do you integrate work and life?"
"It's a fool's errand" to drop the iPhone or pen at 5 p.m. and the weekends.

If you can't balance your work and life working at Cengage something is seriously wrong. I worked at Cengage for close to 10 years and could count on one hand the number of weeks I put in more than 40 hours. The standards for my profession were a complete joke at Cengage, not to mention that the executives I interacted with regularly were absolutely clueless about basic business practices. Once I realized the company was run by a colective clown car, I used them to pay for my grad degree and completed about 90% of my coursework during working hours. Conference rooms are awesome places to study in silence while looking like you are seriously working lol. Left for a massive raise and flipped Cengage the bird on my way out.
Anyone who stays here for their entire career is mediocre or has zero motivation to do better. The company is run by publishing lifer middle management buffoons who wouldn't last 5 minutes at a real company. Their only saving grace is that the entire education publishing industry (lol at edtech...these people wouldn't know actual tech if you spotted them the t, c and h) is also run by mediocre lifers. All my former colleagues got out for much higher paying gigs and we all message each other and laugh at our former coworkers who are stuck there hoping they don't make the next layoff list. The only people getting ahead in this business are the handful of management consultants at the tippy top of the company who have figured out how to financially engineer these decrepit companies into an extra buck for their performance bonus payout. And yes, they get a BIG bonus payout every single year while they tell you a 2% merit increase and no bonus for the 6th straight year is the best they can do in these economic conditions.
They have a 'No intoxicated whales' policy...
I am not salaried but, I come in early and leave late because it is implied doing so is mandatory or I will be on the short list of those they fired if didn't. They keeping telling me how lucky I am to be in Inside Sales and they probably wouldn't have hired me looking back, so I have that to contend with too.
Does she still go on about the water park down there?
Is she still doing the air tracker haha, I remember she was always hungover from the cheap wine whining about another Texas boy who was smart enough to run away from her after he dumped her… All my key accts told me never to bring her back she was so abrasive and useless.
Our DM puts air trackers all over everyone’s sh-t so he knows our errands and who’s been naughty and nice deep in the heart of Texas…
Anyone who does more than the bare minimum for these people is a fool.
