My crystal ball shattered with that question. That typically means that you asked something that’s omnipresent.

Breaking my crystal ball will cost you your severance and stock grants that you can’t cash out for 100 years.

Layoffs are weekly/monthly. Stop asking.
From my place, two people this month. One last. Three the month before that.
Just... it been a part of daily life at Dell for years. I wish people stop asking when. It happens constantly. Small bits or big groups.

layoffs will be part of dells' landscape moving forward. no innovation. losing market share.
only thing left is cost-cutting.

Storage is down. Better layoff storage, that'll fix it

@a9 Layoffs are daily and monthly but, in very small amounts. You/nobody hears about them because they are so minimal but they ARE happening 24/7.

There are typically two times a year in which Dell has large scale layoffs; and that typically is in late August - mid september, and then again in February. At least historically that's been the exact pattern...

I started in 2017 and while layoffs were not uncommon, it wasn't until Covid hit the US in which Dell for whatever reason decided to embark on a constant layoff frenzy that still hasn't stopped.

Realistically? Dell is going to hit a point in which they no longer have anybody who's GOOD at their job. All those people were either let go or quit and moved on to a company who appreciates them, pays better, and actually promotes people...

@a9 What "innovation?" lol... Dell has never "innovated" anything as a company since the very very VERY beginning of Dell. The biggest inovation Dell ever created was from MD back when he figured out he could make computers and sell them on his own. Which was genius. Other than that? Tf has dell ever done that was innovative?

@A9 - "The big question is how long this approach can sustain before it starts impacting innovation and long-term competitiveness."

I think that time has officially arrived.

@a8 The reduction in operating expenses alongside revenue growth is one of the toughest metrics to achieve.. especially in today’s PC market, where share continues to decline and sales show no signs of recovery. For JC, the only real lever left is aggressive cost control. That means continued workforce reductions are almost inevitable, as the company focuses on maintaining profitability in a shrinking market. The big question is how long this approach can sustain before it starts impacting innovation and long-term competitiveness.

Layoffs are monthly (usually at a smaller scale most months), and bigger ones are usually quarterly. There'll probably be a bigger one in November, and then an even bigger one in February.

My question is when is the madness going to stop. At some point, we've got to hit what JC deems as "right sized" don't we? Right?
